otherr-wise asked: im thinking of dying my hair like a peach orange. right now its bleached but kinda has a green yellow tinge from old hair dye (i think it might be from the bleach) and i was wondering what would be the best brand dye to use and what should i do to make sure i get the green out the next time i bleach it or if you have any tips as to make sure it comes out well sorry if this is annoying im just really lost and frustrated with my hair but dont wana give up on coloring it
You can do a soap cap (mixture of shampoo, bleach, and 10 or 20 developer) to get the remaining dye out while lightening the hair, since your hair is already light you don’t have to leave it on for a long time, maybe 10 minutes or less depending on how well it lifts and the condition of your hair, meaning to keep an eye on it!
When you bleach hair the bleach exposes underlying pigment, depending on the color of hair determines what colors will be reveled underneath. So, if you’re a blonde your underlying pigment is going to be something between orange and pale yellow. If you want you hair to look less yellow you’re going to want to cancel out the yellow with a purple, example would be purple shampoo- if you use purple shampoo long enough or a certain way you can make a pale blonde turn platinum. To tone out a certain color you’re going to use the color opposite of the color wheel : yellow and purple are opposite of each other.
As for dye it really depend on preference and how well you want your color to stay. Also depending on how often you wash your hair or spend time in the sun will determine how fast it will fade out of your hair. This is why many red heads won’t wash their color out for a week or so, it’s one of the fastest colors to fade.
Brands I like and have used include:
Ion Color Brilliance from Sally’s beauty Supply, when I was using it i found that some colors didn’t work as well as others, also it is a semi permanent meaning it won’t last that long.
Raw color from Hot Topic, I only used the candy pink and marigold (orange), but I really liked it, it lasted a pretty good while, I had to bleach it out my hair cause it wouldn’t fade out of my hair all the way (if you look through my Instagram you’ll see what I’m talking about it’s the color I had right before my hair was blue/ there’s also a picture of my hair platinum after I bleached the pink and orange out. My Instagram name is the same as it is on here Michellefe)
Chi (professional brand), I can’t really tell if I like it or not cause it was always mixed with something else.
Pravana (professional brand), I LOVE pravana! Their colors last a long time depending on what color you use. The vivids last a lot longer than their pastels though.
I would suggest using raw or pravana.
Sorry for the super long response!
Feel free to ask me anything, sorry if I don’t answer quickly enough, I don’t really use my Tumblr.
However if you’d like you can follow me on Instagram since I do use that more than Tumblr, as I said the username is the same: Michellefe
